After the crash the jump list is gone and there is a jump list with VS startup modes safemode, debugmode, open activity log location When I turn off and on the button mentioned before and start opening projects I get the jump list with recent projects back.

For whatever reason, Microsoft removed this ability in Windows With a minor Registry hack, though, you can still bump that number up. By default, Windows 10 shows around 12 recent items in the jump list.
To increase that number, you just need to make an adjustment to one setting in the Windows Registry.
